You get used to reading a blog. Then the blog stops. Hey, that’s not fun, I liked that blog! What the heck?
But a few days go by. A week. Maybe a month. No posts. Bummer. But you get over it. I mean, it’s just a blog, right?
And then finally, the blogger comes back and says “Hey, sorry I’ve been gone so long.”
As if we’ve all been hanging on his every word, and crying ourselves to sleep every night because he hasn’t been posting.
Man, that bugs me.
Nice try pappy, you’re not fooling ANYONE
Wait, have you not posted in a while here? Huh. Didn’t notice.
Oh, uh, sorry. Missed you. Glad you’re back.
Having nothing better to do while waiting for the coffee to kick, I did some projections based on the first 10 entries, the first 13 (the last entry) and today.
Based on initial (first 10) rate, we’d finish this 1000 blog entry on or about September 15, 2024.
Based on the rate up until the hiatus (first 13) we are done on September 30, 2028.
Add in the last entry and we go to March 25, 2042 which, barring the singularity, is probably after my death.
And that irritates me. This is the very reason why I don’t start epic fantasy novel sagas until the author is done or dead. I made the mistake of starting Game of Thrones (the book, not the show) slogging through the mire with all the characters only to reach the current point of having another book in the works and possibly another after that.
